Thank you to longtime Maldonians Ernie LeBlanc and Donnie Boyce for the time and effort they put in every year as they lovingly tend to the grave and marker at the Forestdale Cemetery of our only Medal of Honor winner, George H. Harrison.• Forty-five years ago, on June 1, Beebe Jr. High School and the city of Malden mourned, and we still do to this day — rest in peace Al Owens and John Surette, you are not forgotten.• Once again, if you are not reading Virginia Ruane’s columns in the local press you are missing out on a real treat. Her last column “Time For A Change” was so heart felt, so “real” — such a refreshing change of pace from the drivel we have become accustomed to in print media. Thank you Ms. Ruane. Spadafora Funeral Home, prior to her appearance on the mound at Callahan Park in Ward 2. Best of luck young lady.• The go-to place for the best chicken cutlets in town as well as your favorite cut of alligator meat — Maplewood Meat Market — is at it again. Appearing in the window: “Times are tough — eat tender meat.” Thank you guys for putting a smile on our faces.• A recent meeting between two of this country's most unique personalities — former Vice President Joe Biden and current Malden Police Commissioner Sal “Butch” Gennette -- did actually take place. Look for proof to appear in the near future.• I’ll give you yet another reason why Malden continues to head in the right direction in 2017 and beyond. Her name is Catherine Bordonaro and she has just announced her bid for re-election for the Ward 7 School Committee seat. Caring, compassionate and 100 percent committed to the children of Malden — and to the city she grew up in — and decided to settle down in after school.
